Working on heritage properties is always a unique challenge – and a privilege. We recently had the opportunity to partner with Daton Electrical to deliver a first fix electrical installation on a stunning Grade II listed property in Wokingham.

The Challenge of Heritage Buildings

Listed properties bring an extra layer of responsibility. Unlike modern builds, where cable runs and service routes can be designed into the structure, heritage sites demand a more considered approach.

  • Restrictions on alterations mean that original features cannot be compromised.

  • Solid walls and historic timbers make access limited and routing more complex.

  • Every decision must strike a balance between preserving history and delivering modern safety and performance standards.

Our Approach

To overcome these challenges, collaboration and planning were key. By working closely with the wider project team, we were able to:

  • Develop innovative routing solutions that respected the building’s fabric.

  • Coordinate trades to ensure works were carried out efficiently and with minimal disruption.

  • Apply our experience in sensitive environments to maintain both quality and compliance.

The Result

The first fix installation was delivered successfully – safeguarding the property’s character while providing the infrastructure needed for a safe, functional, and future-ready electrical system.

Projects like this are a reminder of why we value our work so highly: it’s not just about construction, but about protecting the past while enabling the future.
